Aishwarya Rai Starts Petition To Remove Salman Khan As Rio Olympics Ambassador
Bollywood actor Salman Khan has been nominated as the India’s Goodwill ambassador for the upcoming 2016 Rio Olympics scheduled to start from August 5. The actor became the first Bollywood actor to be nominated as Goodwill ambassador of Indian contingent.
Though the actor did not make any official statement, a tweet by ANI took the liberty to announce the same.
“Prominent Bollywood actor Salman Khan to be the Goodwill Ambassador for Indian contingent at #RioOlympics2016,” ANI tweeted.
But the bollywood actor Salman Khan’s appointment as goodwill ambassador of Indian contingent for Rio Olympics 2016 has not gone down well. Several people have been expressing their rage over his appointment on social media like Twitter and Facebook. The actor’s appointment as goodwill ambassador has made headlines and took several social media sites on storm following many slammed IOA for selecting the Dabangg star to represent India in Rio Olympic.
The issue invited a row of criticism with many saying that the actor’s appointment is not right as he has not contributed anything to the Indian sports.
The wrestler and Olympic gold medallist Yogeshwar Dutt tweeted that Salman’s main intention was merely to promote his upcoming film ‘Sultan’ which would be out soon. He also added that legendary athletes like PT Usha and Milka Singh are more deserving than him due to their tremendous contributions to sports. Jeev Milkha Singh a.k.a ‘Flying Sikh’ was also not in the favour of Salman Khan’s appointment saying that, “What was the need to import a person from Bollywood?”
Amid the ongoing debate over the matter, somebody started a campaign to ban Salman Khan from being the ambassador and soon, Change.org started trending. But to a surprise, the person who has started the petition against Salman Khan happens to be Aishwarya Rai herself.
