Aligarh Movie Review: Manoj Bajpayees Best Performance till Date!!!
Based on a real life incident, Aligarh movie is one of those films that would change your perspective about love. A beautiful dialogue quoted by the brilliant actor Manoj Bajpayee, “How can one define my love in these three letters gay.”
Aligarh movie is a story of the only Marathi professor Dr. Shrinivas Ramchandra Siras at the famous Aligarh University who is fond of poems and is well known for his work. Unfortunately he is fired and rejected from the society for his sexuality. The movie is about a professors struggle in the society due to his personal choices. Throughout the movie you would question yourself about why does a person in our country doesn’t have his own personal choice and why is he seen as someone who is abnormal and is rejected and insulted by the society. We then see a young journalist with a different perspective support this man to get his rights which is played by the talented Rajkumar Rao.
Manoj Bajpayee brilliant performance makes you feel his struggle and you just wish someone supports this man with so much knowledge and experience, his character has so many layers to it yet looks so simple on screen. It is one film that wants you to understand the plight of a man who’s private life was made public and insulted to a level that is unacceptable. A well written screenplay by Apurva Asrani, flawless performances and brilliant direction by Hansal Mehta this movie conveys what it wants and hopes that nothing like that would be repeated in the coming future.
