Buying Bus Tickets Online from Paytm is as Good as Traveling without a Ticket: Shocking Story
Buying Bus Tickets Online is no big deal, you are all set with few clicks from your mobile or personal computer. However buying online bus tickets can turn up into a nightmare if the processes are not set in accordance or complied by either the company that provides online ticketing services or the transportation services, it may even land up the traveler into mess.
We came across one such recent incident where the traveler opted to whistle blow up the issues he faced after buying bus tickets online. Our team contacted the customer who booked his tickets online using paytm services, what he shared with us was a horrible experience.
The agreeved passenger writes, “This is in response to the Bus booked from your app (Paytm mobile app) at 1.52 pm. I booked the bus from ‘Neeta Agency’ which departs at 2.00 pm from Pune and reaches P & S Wakad 3:05 PM. The Volvo bus reached reached the pickup point at 3:15 PM.” While boarding the bus on 20-February-2016 the traveler Ommy was shocked to find that his name was not printed in the passenger list even after confirmed booking online ( PNR 39719876). He saw that someone else was sitting on his seat. The conductor and driver washed off their hand saying that it’s not his seat as his name was not in the passenger list. Seeing himself in the receiving end even after when Ommy has a confirmed booking he didn’t gave up easily. He called up all the numbers mentioned in the ticket booking details provided by Paytm however another shock was on it’s way when he fount out that all numbers were switched off, his call at Paytm customer service was answered after 20 minutes, all this time he kept the bus standstill. Mr. Patel was also insisted that he should cancel the booking online and get his money refund however when you are about to do a planned travel refund is not a solution. After much of efforts, struggle and argument which lasted for more than 30 minutes, Ommy was finally able to secure a seat in the bus.
One possibility of his name not appearing in the list after buying bus tickets online could be that the passenger ticket might have been printed much before the actual departure time however the booking was being accepted online even after that time.
Little did he knew that as he would begin his journey he has to face another set of unwanted stress and nightmare. The Volvo in which the tickets were booked online was suppose to be AC however the driver kept switching off the AC every few minutes. When asked about this the driver said that “the AC has failed”, however Paytm has charged Ommy for a AC journey. There were kids and elders people traveling in the bus, on seeing that they were unable to bear the heat each time the AC was turned off he finally spoke about this issue with bus staff and warned them that he has taken note of the entire incident and he is not going to sit quietly about it. Thinking of the consequences the bus driver immediately turned On the AC. Surprisingly the AC worked fine throughout the journey.
When Ommy took this to social media his id was blocked by the official Paytm account instead of Paytm contacting him and addressing the issues proactively. It was also shocking to see the tweet from Vijay Shekhar Sharma claiming the issues to be a troll.
Since the matter has been escalated, both the travel agency and Paytm is in touch with the customer to improve their services.
We thought of few things which could help address these gaps for a better experience of people who opt for buying bus tickets online:
» Paytm should seriously evaluate why their social media team is blocking genuine customers instead of helping them,
» Customer should not be made to wait in long queues for contacting customer service for support,
» The online booking services should provide Bus numbers in the Ticket details along with working numbers of agency staff who is present in the bus,
» The advance ticket booking should only be allowed up-till a threshold from the departure time and only once online booking time ends the travel authorities should print the tickets.
» Online bus ticket booking portals must ensure that the numbers given then the tickets of the travel agency are responding to customers who are booking tickets online,
» Take regular feedback from customers who uses online booking about their traveling experiences and work upon the feedback provided for a hassle free travel of their customers,
We really hope that people buying bus tickets online should not face this kind of harassment and mental stress. The online booking portals as well as the travelling agencies should learn and work from the feedback provided to improve upon their services.
