Japan To Import Maruti Suzuki Cars – PM Modi
An outcome of the India-Japan Business Leaders Forum in New Delhi, and PM Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, is that Maruti Suzuki cars will be imported by Japan. “Maruti (Suzuki) will manufacture here… Japanese company will manufacture here and export it to Japan,” Modi said. He stated at the Forum that ‘Make in India’ is in full flow not only in India, but in Japan as well.
Modi expressed his eagerness to move forward along with Japan, and revealed that Japan has created a fund of $12 billion for Make in India. “Today, there is a ‘Make In India’ movement in Japan. I have been told that $11-12 billion fund has been earmarked for it. This clearly indicates how both the countries can move forward,” said Modi, referring to India as a ‘land of possibilities’. He added that on his last visit, a figure of $35 billion was decided upon as Japan’s investment, and with the economic progress made by both countries, this target seems achievable.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe praised Modi’s speed of implementing policies and reforms, as well as his reform agenda, comparing them to the speed and safety of the Japanese bullet train Shinkansen.
