Railway Minister Launched an Online “Clean My Coach” Service
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has launched an online ‘Clean My Coach’ service on 11 March 2016. Suresh Prabhu announced this scheme in the rail budget for the next fiscal. This innovative and efficient scheme was launched from Rail Bhavan through video conferencing in New Delhi/Northern Railway, Mumbai Central/Western Railway and Lucknow Jn/North Eastern Railway.
What Is Clean My Coach service?
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said, “Taking forward the momentum on ‘Swachh Rail, Swachh Bharat’, we intend taking a string of measures to improve the cleanliness on stations and trains, “clean my coach” scheme will be among such steps.”.
How Does It Work?
1#. Clean my coach service allows railway travelers to get their compartments cleaned just by sending an SMS “CLEAN <Space> PNR and to 58888 or by using an android app ‘Cleanmycoach Indian Railways’ or from the designated website http://cleanmycoach.com/
2#. An SMS along with a code is sent to the passenger’s mobile number confirming the passenger’s request. A message will also be sent to the mobile number of On Board House Keeping (OBHS) staff who is travelling on the same train in which the passenger who requested for cleaning the coach is travelling.
3#. As per the passenger’s demand, the coach will be cleaned by the OBHS staff.
4#. Once the cleaning is done as per the passenger’s demand, the passenger is supposed to disclose the code that he/she received during acknowledgement and the OBHS staff is meant to send the code by means of SMS which states that the complaint is closed and the passenger is satisfied. If the passenger is not satisfied he/she shouldn’t share the code with the OBHS staff. If the passenger opt’s not to disclose the code with OBHS staff the complaint will not be closed.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu further said “foreign tourists who come to see India, should take good memories of comfort travelling in Indian trains”.
This new initiative by railways, empowers the citizen to get an important service on board. And with a little more effort and planning we could bring the Indian Railways at world standard.
