Rajinikanth Asks Fans Not To Celebrate His Birthday Due To Chennai Floods
Tamil film superstar Rajinikanth, who turns 64 today, has called off his birthday celebrations because of the Chennai floods. He feels it is not a time to celebrate, and thinks that the floods and the damage caused deserve all the attention they can get.
A source close to the star told Indo-Asian News Service, “As Tamil Nadu is limping back to normalcy after being struck by the worst rains in over a century, Rajinikanth has requested his fans to join hands and help the rain savaged people in relief work.” The official announcement regarding his new film, Enthiran 2, was scheduled to take place on his birthday, but has been postponed indefinitely.
Rajinikanth’s involvement in the flood relief efforts is noteworthy, especially his donation of Rs 10 crore to the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund. He has been leading from the front, amongst other stars and public figures who have extended their support to those in need.
The actor is currently shooting for his new film Kabali, in which he plays a gangster.
