A School in Kolkata does the Right Thing and it’s about Time Others must Follow
Really impressed with this school’s message. Children should always be encouraged to chase their own dreams and should never run after fulfilling someone else’s dreams and wishes.
My two cents – observe nature. It works in cycles. It isn’t geared for productivity. Success requires productivity, and productivity is manipulation. For example, agriculture – it’s successful because it manipulates whatever raw materials nature provides. And that manipulation works only because we have a basic understanding of how the raw materials work.
So it is with kids. You want them to succeed, so the least you have to do is teach them how to manipulate their raw material – their own individual minds. So first you have to invest time and energy in understanding how their minds work, then think about manipulation. They aren’t circus lions – you can’t train them or scold them or beat them into submission and make them earn rewards. Fear tactics don’t work. At least not for long.
Kolkata’s Heritage School has a message for parents and it’s going viral for all the right reasons.
Dear Parent :
The exams of children are to start soon. I know you’ll are really anxious for your child to do well but please do remember, amongst the students who will take the exams is an artist who doesn’t need to understand Math. There’s an entrepreneur who doesn’t care about History or English literature. There’s a musician whose Chemistry marks won’t matter.
There’s a sportsperson whose physical fitness is more important than Physics. If your child does get top marks then great. But if he or she doesn’t then don’t take away their self confidence from them. Tell them it’s ok, it’s just an exam. They are cut out for much bigger things in life. Tell them, no matter what they score you love them and will not judge them.
Please do this and if you do, watch your children conquer the world. One exam or a 90 percent won’t take away their dreams and talent.
All the best for your Exams little ones. Hope your Parents are going to be as encouraging as this school expect them to be. Parents who have children at school or college, please read and encourage them wisely.
