#Watch How Smoking Kills 1 Person Every 8 Seconds!!!
Tobacco has over 4000 toxic substances and is like a slow poison. And compulsive smoking is like embracing death. A chain smoker is literally walking down the road to death. According to reports, three million deaths are caused annually because of smoking. That’s one death after every 8 seconds. By 2020, the figure is expected to touch ten million deaths annually. That’s one death after every 3 seconds. So, making a film about the ill-effects of smoking was personal call. I and my partner zeroed in on the theme after ruminating upon dozens of ideas.
We chose ‘Death Road’ as the movie’s title. The film was released on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day. The entire film of 5-minute duration is shot using a single continuous tracking shot captured through a handheld camera at a live location around Delhi University North Campus while battling with rain, crowd and monkeys in keeping up with the spirit of cinematic realism.
Death Road is a tribute to Charles Chaplin, Orson Welles Akira Kurosawa, Dev Anand, Guru Dutt, Kishore Kumar, Max Ophüls, Stanley Kubrick, among other luminaries of cinema.
It is a serious attempt to highlight the ill-effects of smoking in a rather non-serious manner.
Our short film ‘Death Road’ can be watched on YouTube. You too can help us in our fight against smoking by spreading the word around.
