This Tea Seller Shows Us that Miracles Do Happen!
We’ve heard many success stories that have taken people from rags to riches, literally. Dhirubhai Ambani is one of the best examples of this, with the empire he built with Reliance Industries before leaving it to his sons Anil Ambani and Mukesh Ambani. But with all due respect to them, there are some particular stories that will truly touch your heart and bring back your faith in this world and in life. Such is the story of Somnath Giram, who is a tea seller, and recently passed the CA (Chartered Accountancy) exam, and has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the Maharashtra government’s ‘Earn and Learn’ scheme.
The 28-year-old local tea seller was on Sunday appointed as the Brand Ambassador of the Maharashtra government’s education scheme, after his results confirmed last week that he had passed the exam.
“Nowadays, there are acche din (good days) for chaiwallas (tea sellers). Those who sold tea became Prime Minister and now Somnath became CA while serving tea,” said state Education Minister Vinod Tawde, at the convocation ceremony of Design and Animation College.
“And to inspire students like him, I announce him as the brand ambassador for ‘earn and learn’ scheme of the state (government),” the Education Minister said.
Reacting to the development, Somnath said, “I have received the news through media and I am very happy that the state government has announced me as the brand ambassador for ‘earn and learn scheme’. I will work towards the welfare of poor students who determined.”
Schemes of this sort by State Governments in India will help greatly in the development of the country as a whole. The dream of a better and developed India, a country with such a huge population, may be a true possibility, even if it takes time to realise it.
