“If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the father, the mother and the teacher” said one of the greatest presidents of our country – Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. It is time for a change: Dr Abdul Kalam should be the face of the Indian currency now. It might me a small tribute to such a great personality but a great change for the nation.

Dr Kalam- The 11th president of India left this world on 27th July 2015. His death is a huge loss to the nation. He was also known as the Missile Man of India.

This son of a boatman and a graduate from the Madras University of Technology has done a lot for this nation. He has been awarded with the greatest prestigious prize and honors from the nation such as the “Bharat Ratna”, “Padma Vibhushan” and many others.

Nevertheless, Mahatma Gandhi led our nation to attain freedom and taught us many lessons about life. He is respected as the father of our Nation. We do see his portrait picture in every currency note of India. But don’t you think it’s time for a change !!

An inspirational quote by Dr Kalam

There are so many things Dr Kalam taught us before leaving us. He was working till his last breath. Before dying he also said don’t make this day a holiday instead work an extra hour on this day.

Even on his last day he was trying to teach the young generation and spread the message that you’re only worth something if you can bring a change to the society.

Without him India would not have launched satellites and have made missiles on their own.

Once he was asked that what he would like to be known as after his death and the humble person replied he would just want to be remembered as a teacher.

Having his face on the Indian currency would bring out a revolution. It would motivate each and every citizen of the nation.

It would remind the people that no matter how old you are you can contribute to the society in one way or the other. Your true identity would be recognized as how you contribute to the welfare of the society.

It is high time for a change in this society and this might be the first step towards it. This might ignite the fire amongst people to work towards the welfare of the nation.

Another point being that it would give rise to whole new feeling of oneness and brotherhood amongst the citizens of India. As Dr Kalam belonged to a Muslim family it would generate a feeling of brotherhood and bring the citizens closer to each other.

Lastly I think only a great leader can take place of another. And I think if there is someone who deserves to be the new face of Indian currency after the father of our nation MK Gandhi it is Dr APJ Abdul Kalam – The Missile Man of India.

Do you think the face on the Indian currency should be changed?
