World Of Warcraft To Reach Movie Screens In 2016
There’s big news for gaming buffs! The legendary World Of Warcraft series – the strategy game that had gamers hooked for years to the fantasy role-playing world that it depicts, is set to hit the big screen in the summer of 2016. The film is to be directed by Duncan Jones, son of musician David Bowie. Jones himself is an avid gamer and a WoW fan, and has expressed his enthusiasm and excitement at being chosen by Legendary to direct a film based on the popular franchise.
Jones says he recognises games to be a representation of not only a way to escape, but also as ‘an opportunity to go somewhere that you come to know well’.
Although films based on video games have usually failed to make a lasting impact on viewers, Jones is optimistic and is confident that Warcraft will ‘right the wrongs’ of game movies. Considering the fact that Legendary Pictures is dishing out $100 million for the fantasy epic, we sure hope it does! Here’s the official trailer for the film.
